Natural Birth Class Photos

I want to extend a big THANK YOU to Dominique and Rebecca Richardson for their recent visit to my childbirth class in Newberg, OR.

Dominique, of Orange Blossom Doula, is a Labor Doula and Infant Massage Educator who shared with us the ways that a doula can help both moms and dads in pregnancy, labor and postpartum. Between her experience and thoughtful, attentive care, it was evident that she is a fantastic and affirming doula. What an asset and support she would be in birth!

Rebecca, of Natural Shotz Photography, is a Natural Light Photographer, offering maternity, birth and newborn photography. If labor is a peaceful, meaningful, and empowering event (which it can be), wouldn’t it be fitting to capture it on camera? I think so! She is a great resource for those interested in documenting the story of their birth in an artistic way. She also took the wonderful pictures posted below of our class during her visit.

I have an incredible group of students in this Birth Boot Camp series. They are committed, inquisitive, and very fun. Lots of laughs every Wednesday night! Here are some recent photos from class…

Every class (beginning in week 2) couples learn a different comfort measure that can be used in birth. The comfort measure in this class was various types of massage that are particularly helpful in labor. Having many different tools gives women options for how to best cope with the intensity of labor. And who wouldn’t want to practice this?

One of the best ways for a partner to learn how to comfort and support a laboring woman is by experiencing how she likes to be touched. Dad gets a turn, too!

Students ask great questions, and classes are full of lively discussion, interactive games and insightful birth videos.

A little foam rolling demo! Every class students receive new prenatal exercises (promoting strength, flexibility and alignment) and prenatal nutrition tips, because one of the most important ways to facilitate your natural birth is by taking care of your body and staying low risk. All Birth Boot Camp exercises are professionally designed for pregnant women to prepare their bodies for labor and encourage babies into an optimal position for delivery.

If you’re interested in joining us in our next Princeton birth class series, we’d love to have you! Check out my class schedule, learn more about Birth Boot Camp, read my birth story, and feel free to contact me with any questions. I also offer skype and phone follow-up for couples who take online Birth Boot Camp classes.
